Bing Making a Deal with Baidu? – Something’s cooking

baidu logo imageBing landed what could be a huge deal with the Baidu.com (Pronounced “Buy-Do”) Search Engine on July 4th, as reported by The New York Times. While few details are out on this deal, Baidu is saying they have signed a deal with Microsoft for Bing to power their English Language Search on Baidu.

Baidu is the search market leader in China by a huge margin. It controls a reported 80+% of the traffic there, as compared to about 18% for Google.

It will be interesting to see how Bing deals with the censorship issues that are certain to be present in such a deal.
