Insurance and all that.
When I got the chance to socialize with Americans and know what they do and how they earn, one topic that hit me the most is the benefits they get from their government. Back in the Philippines, we have little or close to none of these benefits that they get.
One major example is the social security disability benefit that they offer. It is a federal insurance program of the United States government that is payroll tax-funded. It is tailored to offer income supplements to folks who are physically constrained in their capacity to be employed because of a notable disability, usually a physical disability.
I wonder how long this benefit will be provided by our government back there. Thank God I’m here, I have the chance to have that, in case the time comes that I would be incapable of working to provide for my family.
