As usual, I was the designated host for this event and I enjoyed it. Had a lot of games and prizes(Movie passes!!) in stored for our teammates and they sure love it! We started around 9 in the morning, had a sumptuous lunch and then kicked off with games. I personally loved the booty shaking game, the players were asked to write their signatures on a paper, and then, write it on the air using their fine a$$eS. lol. Mark of the MIS department was sure proud to win the game.

The Financial Times recently reported that Google has decided to move away from Microsoft Windows operating systems on their internal computers. Google indicated that after their Chinese offices were hacked in January through IE6 they want to be more cautious. They sited this security breach as the main reason for the change. With Microsoft’s dominance in operating systems there has been more effort by hackers to conquer their products. This makes Mac the safer bet for Google at this point.

Regardless of what Google says there was a lot of buzz out there on the Web about the announced policy change because of its timing coinciding so well with the release of Chrome OS this fall. If this was a clothing store no one would think twice about a policy asking their employees not to wear the clothes from the store next door to work. However, Google knows how to make a splash and banning Microsoft OS on all company computers and mass Facebook abandonment are not just coincidences.

As I think about having a VW bug, I also foresee having some cool accessories to go with it. Aside from cool sound system, I plan to have the interiors fixed. And when I say fixed, it should be really clean, safe, comfortable, high quality and of course the best value I could find.

As I was browsing thru the Internet for some accessories and all that, I found this site which sells for different brands of interiors and exteriors and of all types.

If I get my own car, I would really prioritize on the interiors, not everyone is careful when they are in a car. If the car doesn’t have the right accessories, the car would end up a mess. A huge example would be, a car without a cup holder accessory, spilling accidentally a drink you were carrying or while driving you put it at the passenger side and you had to hit the brakes. See the picture now? That is just one accessory that’s, so far, what I think is important. That can also be solved in 2 ways. Either get yourself a cup-holder accessory or get yourself a rubber floor mat for the car, that way it doesn’t stain, you just have to wash it afterward or even wipe it with tissue paper.

So, if I get myself a rubber mat accessory I might get it from CARiD.com cause they have this cool VW collection, specifically the Volkswagen Golf Floor Mats. You can choose from a wide array of specifications, from the type of mat, to the material, the specs, the color, and the like. They even have value prized mats. That’s about where I would start if I get my bug real soon.

Here is a nice story I got from the Net. It’s credited to anonymity but nevertheless, very important for me to share so read the words closely.

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, “If I could only see the world, I will marry you.”

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her, “Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”

The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn’t expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears, and days later wrote a note to her saying: “Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.”

The sacrifice has been made but the gratitude was never there.

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes. Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations.

I have gone through this and so have you. How easy it is for people to forget. The sacrifices, the friendship, the love, the moments of help you have extended yet today, not only were they forgotten, the very people you have helped and loved have turned against you, hate you and even do their best to destroy you. Such is the state of the sinful heart. This is why Scriptures warn us against our own hearts. That the heart is hopelessly wicked and is bent towards plotting evil.

Just think about this. God has always been good yet people refuse to accept Him and continue to live a life that defies His Will and His Ways. All of us are ungrateful people and only by the Grace and Mercies of God are we delivered from ourselves.The moment one turns to Christ, God replaces the stony heart with a tender one and puts the indwelling Spirit and sets up residence in the life of the person. And this is the only way why and how people can truly change into a brand new life.

Do not be ungrateful.

Think of someone who can’t speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food,
Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Google has begun testing some new features for Google Maps, most likely to keep in competition with Bing’s map service. Let’s take a quick look at what’s new:

• Google Buzz threads – now you have the option to see geo-specific Buzz threads on top of your Google Maps.
• 3d Street View – Google added a 3d mode to Google maps on April 1st and it was first thought to be an April fool’s prank. However, after removing it for a short time, apparently Google decided it was worth making a permanent addition to their maps service. Put on your cardboard glasses and check out your house. It’s like you’re really there!
• Streaming Video – Google has been testing live YouTube video in their Street View. Right now Google is only testing in Norway, but if the tests go well; expect to see it everywhere over time.
• Additional Local Business Info – When you use Street View expect to see names of businesses pop up near the buildings. Click it and that familiar bubble opens showing you the business info.

With all these visual changes to Google Maps it leaves us wondering what their goal really is. Does Google want its users to be so engrossed in their images that they don’t need to actually experience a location? 3d Street View…who really benefits from this?

Privacy issues seem to be on the forefront of every headline. The hottest of those headlines are about Facebook’s recent launch of a couple features called Social Plugins and Instant Personalization.

Social plugins are those “Like” buttons that site owners are placing on their sites. The idea is to click the button or become of a fan of the site to let your Facebook friends know your interest as well as some free advertisement for the site via Facebook. This isn’t exactly scary, because it’s voluntary and you’re only going to push that button if you want your friends to know about it – not so you could have a random list of sites you like on your Facebook account, just in case you forget.

Instant Personalization is much more intrusive. This new feature automatically allows your public Facebook data to be used with 3 of Facebook’s selected Partners, Pandora, Yelp, and Docs.com. Yup, everyone on Facebook was opted into this system with no notice.

This information is then used by these companies to help them target you for advertising and to create a stronger profile of your online presence. To stop this, login to Facebook and go to Accounts, then Privacy Settings and then Programs and Applications and opt out there. Be sure to click the What your friends can share about you and unclick all of the boxes there as well. This is important because when you opt out of this feature there is a very important message that shows up you should read…

This sudden release of this program with everyone opted in without notice is obviously the reason for some anger around the Internet.

Facebook has also removed the 24-hour rule with regards to how long they can keep your personal information. Facebook now holds your information indefinitely.

Another controversial Facebook privacy hole, (found by a Google developer) was that all the public events you’ve attended or are planning to attend, is publicly available for viewing. No matter how the Facebook privacy settings are altered, this list could be accessed by anyone. This privacy hole is probably the one most publicized and probably most blown out of proportion. Though it may be very revealing, keep in mind that these events are public knowledge already, and its unclear how they could be any more harmful than the standard use of Facebook. When you get invited to an event and say you’re attending, this is announced to everyone you know on Facebook already. The only way to avoid this is to simply say you’re not attending…or get off Facebook.

Deactivating your Facebook account altogether is really the only way to avoid privacy issues and it seems like it may be the most common among Google’s software engineers. Matt Cutts went so far as to announce on Twitter recently that he has deactivated his account. Though it’s unclear if he was the catalyst, using Buzz, it was discovered that many of Google’s software engineers are doing likewise and deactivating their accounts. This move (of course) is starting to get some attention, and could be considered a pretty aggressive PR campaign by Google against Facebook.

This stirs up some interesting questions about Google’s employees using their status to attempt to influence average users to follow them. Not to mention the question of this being a hypocritical act after Google went ahead and opted in its users into Buzz, and behavioral targeting without consent, as well has personalizing search by default.

Let’s look past the privacy issue and ask an important question. Is Facebook making this change to enhance your experience? Why stir up issues unless you stand to make a lot of money? Yelp, Pandora and Docs.com stand to make a lot money off of becoming Facebook partners, and no doubt they paid handsomely to gain this opportunity.

The important thing to know, and to share with your family, is that if you’re using sites like Facebook then you’re making your life public and your information available to the highest bidder. Think of Facebook, Twitter and the Internet in general like a billboard in your home town. If you wouldn’t put it up there for everyone to see then keep it off the Internet.
