As part of my daily routine, I visit a couple of my favorite forums to read latest SEO news and articles. One of the threads I bump into was about Google SERP’s having a different layout since early last week, specifically the Local Business listings are showing up in the upper right hand corner. Another forum member said that he noticed a wider blue bar near the top of the page. Hence, because of these minor changes, they webmasters conclude that Google is testing again.
For me personally, I think Google never stops testing. They constantly test every new idea their minds can generate. It makes me believe that all good ideas come from them already. Making the web more social(Open Social), Google Experimental Search, Google Code Search, Google Music trends, Google Accessible Search(for the visually impaired), Google Trends, Google Ride Finder, Google Mars, Google, Google, Google. I wonder if they can really make an elevator going to the moon?
“Knol”..shortcut for “knowledge”.
One of the goals of Google is to encourage people to contribute knowledge. Google wants to provide all the tools to write this, and host the content and so on, so that experts can focus just on the content. In contrast to Wikipedia, each page will be written by a single author and cannot be edited by others. Also, there would be multiple articles for the same topic.
So actually not a lot like Wikipedia at all.
Knols will include strong community tools. People will be able to submit comments, questions, edits, additional content, and so on. Anyone will be able to rate a knol or write a review of it. Knols will also include references and links to additional information.
Wikipedia is currently PR8 and is the leading website for this kind of approach on users. I wonder if Google would have no issues regarding “biases” on the SERPS regarding this.
I know the internet is social already but Google intends to make it more “social”. Check out the video below.
Like to know about how your competitors do on the SERPS? What keyterms they are using? Are they engaging on PPC? A few questions that serious online profiteers would pay hundreds of dollars to get some information to. This is the kind of software that would threaten others and would be willing to pay just not to release such product or just keep it for themselves.
You can check out a demo video about their software here.
I am now using a new keyword research tool, Keyword Discovery. It’s my first time to use it and I can say it is one of the good tools over the web for researching the keywords you want to target. It has a variety of databases where you can have the keywords that are mostly searched by internet visitors according to your niche.
As I was browsing channels on our TV yesterday, my attention was caught when GMA 7’s Mel & Joey talk show featured a topic about how blogging would be an alternative way of earning income.

I was anxious to know who will they interview about the topic. First I thought it would be Marc Macalua of SEO Philippines coz he really should be famous about all this online revenue generation thing since he’s the founder. I also thought GMA 7 would have a word with Google Philippines representative, Aileen Apolo, to give insights about the matter. And to my suprise, it was Abe Olandres talking about the topic.

He enlightened people on how they actually could earn online thru blogging, I was pretty excited if he would spill the beans of how he actually earns online, but he was pretty safe on discussing the matter. He talked about how getting traffic would help a person earn online, about being a publisher of advertisements and they showed a couple of images showing affiliate programs like Text-Link-Ads and others, but I think they didn’t show any Google adsense footages there. I’m not sure. Abe blog about this here. He also have welcome notes from Mel & Joey here.
J. Angelo Racoma was interviewed too, he talked about how he learned about “problogging” as a corporate blogger and on how a blog could earn $1000-5000/month.
It’s really great knowing fellow filipinos do excel in the latest trend in I.T. today. It gives me that pride that Filipinos would always be competitive in any field. Mabuhay kayo mga pinoy bloggers! \m/^_^
